Scholarship Recipients

The Women’s & Gender Studies Department is pleased to announce nine scholarship recipients for 2017-18.

SUSAN CURRIER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT: Jeanne Bay (Major: English; Minor: Gender, Race, Culture, Science and Technology minor)

The Susan Currier Memorial Scholarship is an award going to a student in the College of Liberal Arts. The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and financial need. Preference will be given to students who have a disadvantaged background and/or who have overcome significant adversity and/or who make a valuable, current contribution to community service.

VICKI AND DARELL FARRER SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT: Sara Della Ripa (Major: Biomedical Engineering)
 

The Vicki and Darell Farrer Scholarship is an award going to a College of Engineering major OR Chemistry, Physics or Statistics major in the College of Science and Mathematics who has demonstrated a commitment to women’s equality issues through serving as a leader in organizations that have the primary purpose of promoting women’s rights politically, economically and socially. The student should have a minimum 3.0 GPA overall.

SARAH PERRYMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT: Isabella Kamrath (Major: Statistics; Minor: Actuarial Preparation)

The Sarah Perryman Memorial Scholarship is an award to an undergraduate junior or senior majoring in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics. The recipient must have a minimum 3.2 GPA overall and must have demonstrated a valuable, current contribution to community service, especially women’s equity. Preference may be given to an applicant who is first-generation college-educated and/or has a disadvantaged background.

DR. SHIRLEY H. WALKER SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT: Kiana Kraft (Major: Art & Design; Minor: Psychology)

The Shirley H. Walker Scholarship is an award going to a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA that has demonstrated a commitment to women’s equality issues through serving as a leader in organizations that have the primary purpose of promoting women’s rights politically, economically and socially.

RALPH R. WILMAR WOMEN'S EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS:

Lul Kidane (Major: Civil Engineering)

Diana Lau (Major: Biomedical Engineering)

Jennifer Reimer (Major: Psychology)

Hannah Simons (Major: Physics)

Nicole Matenaer (Major: Business Administration; Minor: Statistics)

The Wilmar Scholarship is an award given to a Cal Poly student who has a strong interest and/or active participation in promoting or enhancing women’s educational opportunities. It is recommended that the student have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
